Building Regulations point

When you plan to erect a new building,  your development must comply with Building Regulations.  Building regulations are designed to ensure that buildings meet national standards for health and safety, access and energy conservation.  New buildings, including outbuildings, must be covered by a building warrant before work can commence.

In addition to complying with Building Regulations, you will also need Planning Permission for your development.  Whilst Building Regulations apply nationally,  Planning Permission is dependant on the rules prevailing in your local area.

Building Regulations are administered by your local authority and the documention governing Building Regulations is available from HMSO.  However, if you are inexperienced in building work, it will be advisable to let Fjordhus act as your agent in the application for a building warrant.  The process will include the submission of diagrams, the handling of any queries related to the development and the acquisition of the completion certificate at the end of the development project.
